Carbohydrates and consequently also wholegrain products should cover most of our daily energy requirements (52% of the entire energy). Having considered that, it is good to add wholegrain products to our main meals (breakfast, supper and dinner). However, recommended daily intake of these products will differ for each of us, because every human presents different metabolism and thus different energy requirements.
For example, an adult weighing approx. 60-70 kg, with low physical activity and good metabolism has energy requirements of approx. 1900-2000 kcal. Therefore, this person should eat approx. 1100-1200 kcal (which equals e.g. 4 slices of wholegrain bread; 100 g of wholegrain pasta; 30 g of wholegrain cereal).
